Acosta Challenges Marquez: Ready to Duo at Ducati 2027

Pedro Acosta refuses to be beaten before the fight even begins. The young Spaniard has openly declared he is ready to go head-to-head with Marc Marquez, his future Ducati teammate from 2027. In an exclusive interview with AUTOHebdo, Acosta emphasised his ambition to become MotoGP world champion, not just a supporting act in the Italian factory garage.

The move to Ducati has been one of the hottest stories of the season. After growing up within the KTM family, Acosta had to make a big decision to join the dominant team. Gigi Dall’Igna was reportedly very keen to secure his services, and now he will partner with Marc Marquez, a rider considered one of the greatest of all time.

Learning from the Champion

Despite acknowledging Marquez's greatness, Acosta is not intimidated. “It’s a great opportunity. He is one of the strongest riders in history and has enormous experience. Having the chance to see how he works, compare data, and understand where he can make the difference will be very interesting. Of course, he will also be a rival. When you’re on track you want to beat everyone, including your teammate, but I believe you can learn a lot from a rider like him,” he said.

Acosta knows adaptation won’t be easy. He must get used to a new bike, a new team, and a new way of working. “First of all, I will have to learn. I’ll be riding a new bike, in a new team, and facing a new way of working. I can’t think I’ll arrive and know everything immediately. I’ll have to listen, understand how the bike works, and adapt my riding style. Naturally, Ducati is extremely competitive and that represents a great opportunity. But being on a competitive bike also brings more pressure: when you have the tools to win, people expect you to win,” he added.

Acosta's statement reveals a champion's mentality, refusing to settle for second best. He stressed that his main goal remains the world title. “My goal remains to become world champion, certainly, I race for this. It’s not enough for me to be in MotoGP. I want to win races and fight for the championship. I know it’s not easy, and that the level in MotoGP is incredible. But I believe in my abilities, I must improve and wait for the right moment,” he affirmed.

A Tough Challenge at Ducati

Joining Ducati means Acosta must be ready to face immense pressure. Moreover, Marquez is known to have demolished many of his teammates, including those who have won world titles. Not to mention, MotoGP will enter a technical revolution in 2027, adding complexity to the adaptation. However, Acosta seems unfazed. He sees this as a golden opportunity to prove his worth.

For Ducati, the Marquez-Acosta pairing could be a lethal combination. Marquez brings experience and raw speed, while Acosta offers youthful energy and hunger for victory. If they can work well together, it’s not impossible that Ducati will further dominate MotoGP in the coming years. One thing is clear: Acosta’s statement signals that he will not be a mere supporting act, but a serious contender.
