F3 testing at the Madring

The 2026 Spanish Grand Prix is set to ignite the brand-new Madrid circuit, Madring, from 11-13 September. As round 14 of the Formula 1 season, all eyes are on Kimi Antonelli, who arrives with a 66-point lead in the drivers' championship.

The Mercedes driver stole the show at Monza with a remarkable comeback victory from 19th on the grid, overtaking teammate George Russell in the closing laps. That win stretched his advantage even further, leaving Russell and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton under mounting pressure to close the gap.

But it's not just the title fight that grabs attention. Two Spanish heroes, Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso, will perform in front of their home crowd. They'll be hoping to seize any opportunity and score valuable points amid potential chaos. With Williams and Aston Martin struggling, a trouble-free Sunday might not offer them much of a chance.

The Madring is a street circuit surrounding IFEMA, Madrid's exhibition center. With its challenging 5.4km layout, it promises exciting overtaking action, especially at Turns 1 and 13. Drivers will need to adapt quickly to the new, 'green' asphalt which tends to be slippery.

With all the drama unfolding this season, the Spanish GP is set to be a proving ground for title contenders. Will Antonelli extend his lead, or will Russell and Hamilton fight back? Let's see.
