Internal tensions have boiled over inside the Aspar squad as team boss Jorge Martinez openly revealed that the relationship between David Alonso and Dani Holgado deteriorated so severely throughout the 2026 season that management was forced to physically separate them inside the team trucks.

The simmering feud spilled into the public eye after Alonso, who is slated to step up to the premier class with LCR Honda in 2027, launched a scathing attack on Holgado—bound for Gresini Ducati next year—following a controversial collision at the Indonesian Grand Prix. The young talent labeled his teammate as "not a nice person" and shockingly branded the Aspar team atmosphere as "not even a team".

Responding to the sharp criticism, veteran racer and team principal Jorge Martinez did not hold back, calling the remarks completely out of place. Speaking with DAZN, Martinez explained that the underlying friction stems from a long history of accumulated disagreements between the fierce career-long rivals.

“The problem is that there have been many disagreements, about many things, for a long time,” Martinez told the Spanish broadcaster. He further elaborated, “This year we even separated them in the trucks, so they wouldn't be together. They even had separate rooms. A lot of small details that I think have added up, and perhaps that's led to this final falling out. We're going to manage it in the best way possible; the team has an excellent relationship, and we have to know how to manage the relationship between the two of them.”

While confirming plans to give both riders a strict warning for their out-of-line behavior, Martinez remains pragmatic, admitting he has no intention of forcing a superficial reconciliation between two individuals who simply do not get along on a personal level.

“I don't think I should force them to shake hands or get along now,” Martinez stated. “This has been going on for a while; it's not new. Eventually, things reach a breaking point. Like I said, we have to see how we can salvage the situation. They aren't friends; I can't force them to be, but I can try to make things better on the track.”

Conceding that fierce clashes are an inevitable byproduct of housing two elite, race-winning talents under the same roof, Martinez remains fully focused on steering the squad through the remaining four or five rounds of the championship to ensure the season concludes as smoothly as possible.
