2026 British Moto2: Guevara Smashes Lap Record for Pole

Izan Guevara lit up Silverstone with a stunning performance in Moto2 qualifying for the British Grand Prix, securing his third pole of the season with a new lap record. The Blu Cru Pramac Yamaha rider's pace was unmatched, leaving his rivals scrambling in his wake.

On his second flying lap, Guevara set a blistering 2'01.483s, a time that would stand as the benchmark despite a red flag interruption. The session was halted after contact between Zonta van den Goorbergh and Mario Aji, but Guevara remained unfazed, confident in his earlier effort.

Alonso Lopez, returning from injury, impressed by taking second for Italjet Gresini, the top Kalex rider, just 0.316s adrift. Ivan Ortola, winner at the last round in Germany, had to settle for third, completing the front row for QJMotor.

Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez could only manage fourth for Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP. Daniel Munoz improved to fifth, while Filip Salac took sixth for American Racing.

Daniel Holgado, who was fastest on Friday, couldn't replicate that form and dropped to seventh. Joe Roberts was the best of the Q1 graduates in ninth, while Senna Agius had a difficult session and ended up 11th.

There was disappointment for Aron Canet, the 2025 polesitter, who crashed in Q1 and will start 26th. Taiyo Furusato also crashed heavily and failed to set a time.
