Max Verstappen has officially signed a long-term contract extension with Red Bull, putting an end to speculation about his Formula 1 future. The new deal ensures the four-time world champion remains with the Austrian team at least until the end of 2030.
His previous contract was due to expire in 2028, but with this extension, Verstappen has committed his future for even longer. The announcement was made by Red Bull ahead of this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix, which is Verstappen's home race at Zandvoort.
Earlier, Verstappen's management was reported to have held talks with McLaren about a possible move for 2027, and he was also linked with a potential switch to Mercedes. However, in the end, the Dutch driver chose to remain loyal to Red Bull, where he has secured four consecutive world titles since 2021.

This decision provides clarity for Red Bull in planning the team's future, especially amid intense competition from rivals such as Ferrari and McLaren. The stability that Red Bull has with Verstappen at the forefront is a valuable asset to maintain their dominance in the new regulations era starting in 2026.
For Verstappen, this long-term commitment also brings peace of mind, allowing him to focus fully on title battles. Nevertheless, this decision certainly closes the door for other teams to secure the services of the 28-year-old driver in the coming seasons.
With this new contract, Verstappen is set to be a key part of Red Bull's project in facing the 2026 engine regulation transition, where Red Bull will partner with Ford to develop their power unit. This is a strong signal that Verstappen believes in the team's future direction.
