Max Verstappen has extended his contract with Red Bull Racing and will stay with the Formula 1 team until the end of the 2030 season. The announcement puts an end to speculation that had linked the four-time world champion with other teams, most notably Mercedes, over the past season and a half.
The new deal was confirmed on the eve of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, Verstappen's home race, which is also the last planned edition at this time. The extension effectively adds two years to his previous contract, which ran until 2028 and included performance-related clauses that had previously warded off interest from rivals.
In recent years, the structure of the team that has been Verstappen's home for a decade has undergone significant changes. Key figures such as Helmut Marko, Adrian Newey, and Christian Horner have all left, while his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, is reportedly set to join McLaren no later than 2028.

Red Bull expressed immense pride in continuing the partnership, describing it as one of the most successful and defining in F1 history. The team also emphasized that Verstappen is a defining part of their history, identity, and success.
With this new contract, Verstappen commits his future to a Red Bull project in transition. The decision provides stability for the team amid major changes and signals confidence in the direction of their car development under the new regulations.
The certainty of this contract also ends the transfer drama that had been brewing, allowing the team to focus on on-track challenges. Verstappen is expected to remain the backbone of Red Bull's efforts to maintain their dominance in the coming seasons.
