Jack Doohan has never hidden his ambition since last summer: returning as a full-time Formula 1 driver in 2027. For the 23-year-old Australian, the opportunity with Haas is a way to erase the bitter experience with Alpine in early 2025 and prove his true potential.
The first step toward that goal could come after the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid. The American team has decided to stay in Spain after the race to give Doohan a private test session at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit. The TPC (Test Previous Cars) session will be a stage for him to compete with other candidates vying for a Haas race seat next season.
Competition is fierce. Besides Doohan, there is Ryo Hirakawa, his Japanese fellow Haas reserve driver, who will also be present in Spain. Then there is Rafael Camara, the Brazilian who has already tested a Ferrari and is a star of the Maranello team's driver academy. Not to forget Leonardo Fornaroli, who has also had his first tests with McLaren at Portimao.

With Esteban Ocon's position uncertain as Oliver Bearman's teammate, Doohan's chances of promotion are growing. The Jerez test is not just a formality but a chance to prove he deserves a return to an F1 race seat.
As reported by FormulaPassion, Haas's decision to hold this private test shows their seriousness in evaluating driver options for 2027. With competition intensifying, Doohan's performance at Jerez will be a key focus for pundits and fans alike.
