Max Verstappen has finally settled his future. The four-time Formula 1 world champion has signed a contract extension with Red Bull until the end of 2030, putting an end to the speculation that had been swirling around the paddock.
The new deal adds two more years to his existing agreement, which was already set to run until 2028. With this extension, Verstappen will have spent 15 seasons with the Milton Keynes-based team, dating back to his shock mid-season promotion from Toro Rosso in 2016.
The decision is particularly interesting given that, in recent months, Verstappen had voiced his dislike for the new generation of F1 cars and had been linked with a move to other series. But the strong bond with the team and the long-term vision offered by Red Bull proved convincing enough.

“I am really pleased with the contract extension. We have the best people and I’m excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again,” Verstappen said in the team’s official release.
The Dutchman also highlighted the role of team principal Laurent Mekies, whom he believes has a clear vision for the team’s future. “Getting to work with Laurent now for over a year has also been great, I see a clear vision he has for the Team,” he added.
Mekies responded with high praise. “Having Max continue with us and retaining the best driver on the grid is fantastic news for everyone at Red Bull, F1, and motorsport as a whole,” he said. He described Verstappen as a transformative figure for the team since his arrival.
With this new contract, Verstappen is confirmed as part of Red Bull’s project at least until the start of the next decade. The focus now shifts to the team’s efforts to return to the front of the field, after a challenging 2025 season.
