A massive success was achieved by Toyota at the seventh round of the 2026 FIA WEC season following a stellar performance at the Catalan circuit. Demonstrating supreme pace and reliability from the outset, the Japanese manufacturer cruised to a commanding one-two finish. The GR010 Hybrid shared by Brendon Hartley, Ryo Hirakawa, and Sebastien Buemi controlled proceedings for the majority of the race to take the checkered flag.

The glorious result was capped off by their sister car driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and Nyck de Vries, who crossed the line right behind to secure second place. Meanwhile, the final step of the Hypercar podium was claimed by the Ferrari 499P crew featuring Antonio Fuoco, local hero Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen after a fiercely contested battle throughout the six-hour duration.

The race initially began with Genesis locking out the front row as Luis Felipe Derani, Andre Lotterer, and Mathys Jaubert started from pole position in their GMR-001 Hypercar. However, starting driver Lotterer quickly dropped down the order. A similar misfortune befell Daniel Juncadella in the second Genesis machine during the opening lap, effectively removing them from podium contention early on.

Throughout the event, the championship leaders proved entirely untouchable as neither changing weather conditions nor multiple Safety Car deployments could disrupt their rhythm. The flawless execution and relentless pace left competing manufacturers with no answers around the technical circuit.

By securing this dominant double finish, the team has mathematically sealed the 2026 FIA WEC manufacturers' world championship with one race remaining. The drivers' crown is also guaranteed to go to the powerhouse squad, as only the crews of Hartley/Hirakawa/Buemi or Conway/Kobayashi/de Vries remain in mathematical contention for the title.

Elsewhere in the field, Maranello's representative carved out a strong points finish with third place overall alongside a fifth-place finish for the customer AF Corse entry. Sandwiched between the Italian machines was the Cadillac V-Series.R piloted by Earl Bamber, Sebastien Bourdais, and Jack Aitken in fourth. In the highly competitive LMGT3 category, the Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3 driven by Richard Lietz, Riccardo Pera, and Yasser Shahin emerged victorious. The 2026 WEC season will officially conclude with the final round at Monza on November 8.
