Ryo Hirakawa spearheaded Toyota to the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship manufacturers' crown following a commanding one-two victory at the 6 Hours of Barcelona. The dominant performance at the Spanish circuit solidified the Japanese manufacturer's supremacy in the premier endurance racing series.

The #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid shared by Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Hirakawa took the checkered flag just 0.583 seconds ahead of their sister car. The grueling six-hour race provided immense tactical challenges, starting on a wet tarmac before transitioning into entirely dry racing conditions.

Genesis Magma Racing initially looked poised to threaten the reigning champions after locking out the front row in qualifying with their GMR-001 Hypercars. However, an early error at Turn 5 for Dani Juncadella handed the lead to Buemi, allowing the Toyota squad to establish firm control of the race proceedings.

Internal competition remained fierce as the #7 crew featuring Nyck de Vries, Mike Conway, and Kamui Kobayashi mounted a brilliant recovery drive from ninth on the starting grid. Despite the #8 car overcoming a five-second penalty for a start-procedure infringement, strong stints on slick tires sealed their third victory of the season.

Ferrari secured the final step of the overall podium with their #50 499P lineup of Miguel Molina, Antonio Fuoco, and Nicklas Nielsen. Although the Italian outfit fought hard from eighth on the grid, they ultimately finished roughly 39 seconds adrift of the victorious Toyota crew at the end of the race.
