All-Australian squad STM is gearing up for another fierce assault on the mountain, retaining its star-studded driver line-up for the upcoming endurance classic. Reigning Supercar champion Chaz Mostert makes his return to the team for the second consecutive year, once again joined by his domestic teammates Cam Waters and Thomas Randle in pursuit of ultimate redemption at Mount Panorama.
The team's previous campaign was a rollercoaster of emotions filled with immense highs and heartbreaking lows. Their 2026 attack was heavily highlighted by a stunning shootout lap from Waters on Saturday that successfully sealed the Allan Simonsen Pole Award, showcasing the undeniable raw pace embedded within the garage.
However, race day on Sunday delivered a harsh reality check as the mountain bit back hard. After running as a front-runner early on, an uncharacteristic spin for Randle followed by late-race contact between Mostert and Jayden Ojeda ultimately brought a premature end to their day with a heavily damaged machine.

Reflecting on the heartbreak, team owner Scott Taylor emphasized that keeping the exact same ingredients is the key to success. "We’ve got the capability to win. We should have won last year, so in 2027, we’re definitely returning to give it a nudge," Taylor stated, while expressing gratitude to Tickford, Walkinshaw, Erebus, Ford America, and Toyota Australia for supporting the program.
The drivers share the exact same sentiment, entering the next chapter with unfinished business on their minds. "We were in a good spot last year, but as we know, it doesn’t take much to unravel your race at the mountain," Mostert noted. Backed by their reliable Mercedes-AMG chassis prepared by Ashley Seward Motorsport, the team is fully focused on executing a clean run this February.
