George Russell delivered a stellar performance in the sprint qualifying session at the 2026 F1 Dutch Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver clocked the fastest time, edging out Lando Norris of McLaren by a slim margin.
This result means Russell will start the sprint race from the front row at the Zandvoort circuit, known for its banked corners. Norris, meanwhile, will have to settle for second place, ready to put up a fierce fight when the lights go out.
The battle at the front promises to be intense. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Oscar Piastri (McLaren) take third and fourth, setting up a four-way duel between three different teams that is eagerly anticipated.

Behind them, Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) and Max Verstappen (Red Bull) share the third row. Verstappen, racing in front of his home crowd, will look to score valuable points to improve his championship standing.
The session also saw a surprise from Gabriel Bortoleto (Audi) who managed ninth place, ahead of Red Bull's Liam Lawson. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) and Sergio Perez (Cadillac) had to settle for the back rows.
The sprint race at the 2026 Dutch GP is scheduled for Saturday. The result will determine the grid for the main race on Sunday, where strategy and courage will be key.
