Robert Kubica has finally exorcised his endurance racing demons by claiming an emotional overall victory at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. Driving the Ferrari 499P fielded by AF Corse, the Polish driver opened up about the dramatic journey that led to his redemption on the Circuit de la Sarthe.
Kubica's history with the French endurance classic had been fraught with heartbreak. Back in his debut appearance in 2021 within the LMP2 category, victory was snatched away on the very final lap due to a heartbreaking mechanical failure when the team was comfortably leading the race. That bitter pill left an open wound that took years to heal.
Reflecting on that initial heartbreak, Kubica noted how the 2021 edition delivered every possible emotional extreme. Losing the race on the final tour stands as the most brutal defeat an athlete can experience, especially after fighting back through various minor issues throughout the grueling twice-around-the-clock contest before the ultimate terminal failure struck.

Despite the devastation, the unique allure of Le Mans captured Kubica's imagination entirely. He admitted that competing on this historic circuit brought back the raw, unfiltered racing emotions he felt during his early days in karting, a sensation that often fades away after a long professional career in standard single-seater championships.
Prior to the triumphant 2025 campaign, misfortune struck again in 2024 when a potential victory vanished with just four hours remaining on the clock. Sharing the cockpit with Yifei Ye through these hardships, Kubica humorously recalled telling his teammate before the 2025 start that this might well be their absolute last chance to secure the elusive win together.
Fortunately, destiny favored the crew this time around. Through intense battles and flawless execution, the AF Corse operation delivered a masterclass that cemented a historic triumph for the Maranello manufacturer in the top-tier hypercar division.
