Trackhouse Aprilia rider Raul Fernandez faces growing doubts over his participation in the Australian Grand Prix after injury troubles forced him into a premature retirement during Saturday's sprint race.
The Spanish competitor had shown promising pace throughout the practice sessions at Phillip Island, eventually converting his speed into a strong sixth-place finish during the official qualifying grid determination.
However, the demanding physical nature of the high-speed Australian venue proved significantly more taxing than the previous round, pushing the physical threshold beyond acceptable limits for the injured rider.

The team confirmed that their number 25 representative was forced to park his Aprilia RS-GP26 machine with four laps remaining in the 13-lap sprint due to intolerable discomfort in his primary braking digit.
"Raul Fernandez withdraws from the Australia Sprint race suffering the effects of his crash in Indonesia in which he fractured his right index finger – his primary brake control finger," the team outlined in an official statement.
This setback for the Trackhouse stable compounds a difficult weekend for the broader Aprilia contingent following a high-speed accident involving Jorge Martin during the same afternoon.
Martin suffered his heavy fall at Turn 8 while engaged in a fierce battle at the front of the field with Marc Marquez, prompting immediate medical intervention.
