Ralf Schumacher Delivers Brutal Verdict on Colton Herta F1 Chances
TO NEWS OVERVIEW
Colton Herta has qualified for an F1 superlicence

Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher has delivered a scathing assessment regarding Colton Herta and his potential prospects of securing a race seat with the Cadillac squad in the near future. These outspoken remarks follow the American driver's successful attainment of his final Super Licence requirement during practice running at Interlagos.

Herta, a nine-time race winner in IndyCar, has emerged as a contender for a coveted seat with Cadillac as the team evaluates potential lineup changes for upcoming seasons. With Valtteri Bottas facing heavy scrutiny alongside Sergio Perez during the outfit's debut campaign, management is reportedly exploring options to introduce an American presence to the premier class grid.

Asked about the likelihood of Herta joining the team, Schumacher offered his characteristic blunt analysis. "Only if Easter and Christmas fall on the same day," the former grand prix winner remarked when questioned about the potential transfer.

He further elaborated on the sporting logic behind such a move, questioning the overall objective. "Seriously, it is pointless. He is just burning fuel, to borrow a phrase from Franz Tost. I do not even know what the point of it is. You might as well put someone else in the car and give other young drivers a chance," Schumacher added.

Beyond his open-wheel background in America, Herta's transitional campaign in Formula 2 has also drawn critical scrutiny. Sitting 19th in the standings with two rounds remaining, his struggles in the feeder series have fueled skepticism from pundits. As reported by Crash.net, Schumacher maintained that based on current competitive output, a direct promotion to the pinnacle of motorsport remains unwarranted.
