Rain Delays IndyCar Race at Milwaukee Mile

The first race of IndyCar's double-header weekend at the Milwaukee Mile has been delayed due to rain. A small storm system slowly moved into the area in the afternoon, affecting the track just after the National Anthem was sung.

Drivers did not climb into their cars, instead heading back to their haulers to wait out the light shower. Cars were towed back to the paddock but remained ready to return to the grid as radar indicated the initial shower should be brief. However, more rain is in the area.

IndyCar plans to get as much of the race in as possible today, with tomorrow's race currently unaffected and scheduled to take place at noon Central Time. Earlier in the season, IndyCar was forced to run its race from Nashville Superspeedway on Monday rather than Sunday after the World Cup finale.
