A major shake-up has hit the Supercars paddock as Cooper Murray departs Erebus Motorsport early to make an immediate switch to PremiAir Racing ahead of the upcoming 2027 racing campaign.

As previously revealed, this early transition was orchestrated following the premature departure of Declan Fraser, whose season came to an early close. This unexpected opening gives the talented youngster a vital head start in integrating himself into his new racing environment.

PremiAir team owner Peter Xiberras confirmed the multi-year agreement, emphasizing the strategic value of bringing the driver on board immediately to start preparations for future championship challenges.

“Cooper has signed up with us for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, so it makes sense to have him on board now for the end of the current campaign,” said Peter Xiberras. “We’re thrilled to have him joining us.”

Reflecting on his rookie journey, the driver previously secured 18th place in the drivers’ championship standings during his debut year. His standout moment arrived during a treacherous, rain-hit Bathurst 1000 event, where he delivered a career-best fourth-place finish.

With only three rounds remaining in his sophomore campaign, this mid-season move allows him valuable track time to get comfortable inside the Camaro and build vital working relationships with the engineering department.

“I’m excited to be joining PremiAir Racing and getting started with the team at the Gold Coast,” stated Cooper Murray. “With 2027 and 2028 locked in, these final three events give us a great opportunity to start working together and build towards next season.”

This roster adjustment marks the second consecutive year that the PremiAir outfit has enacted a driver change before the season conclusion, following a similar lineup shift in 2025 involving Richie Stanaway and Jayden Ojeda.
