Pierre Gasly suffered a fruitless outing at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 2026 despite lining up from a promising seventh position on the grid. The French driver, who has consistently shown remarkable qualifying pace throughout the current season, ultimately failed to convert his starting slot into championship points at the demanding Marina Bay Circuit.
Having inherited a higher grid position following a penalty for George Russell, the Alpine charger immediately lost ground off the line. “We had no power out of the line,” Gasly stated when reflecting on the race start. “We need to review, because this year we’ve had really good starts.”
Running on Medium tires before switching to Softs for the final stint, the A526 struggled immensely with severe tyre degradation in the low-speed corners. “In a track with a lot of low-speed corners, a lot of tractions, we just ran out of tyres after three laps,” he explained regarding the team's ongoing car limitations.

Defending his position became an uphill battle as the race progressed. Gasly candidly revealed the root cause of his defensive struggles: “Again, our problem is I can’t get out of any corner. The problem is I’m sideways every time I touch the throttle.” Read our in-depth analysis of the latest paddock updates on Sportrik Media.
