Lando Norris once again proved that McLaren is not just a seasonal contender. At Zandvoort on Sunday, the British driver completed his second consecutive victory, while also cutting the points gap to championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
This win felt special because it came at a circuit that was the scene of his bitter title heartbreak last year. Now, with the ever-evolving MCL40 upgrade package, Norris is back as the hunter, not the hunted. Starting from pole, he lost the lead during the standing restart on lap two, but patience in the early stages paid off sweetly.
On lap 54 of 72, Norris made a brave move around the outside of Lewis Hamilton, who had yet to pit, then took over the race lead from Antonelli at Turn 1. After that, he pulled away without trouble to the finish. This performance underscores that Lando Norris is in the form of his life, and McLaren now has a car capable of winning at many circuits.

However, the 83-point gap to Antonelli is still very thick. The question is, can Kimi Antonelli and Mercedes respond with their next upgrade package? If not, this season could turn into an unexpected drama.
Lawson Seizes Golden Opportunity
Another story comes from Liam Lawson. Recalled to Red Bull after Isack Hadjar's wrist injury, Lawson impressed since qualifying. He locked in eighth place, just 0.115 seconds behind Max Verstappen—a feat that Hadjar rarely achieved all season.
When Verstappen retired after a crash early in the race, Lawson became Red Bull's main hope. Although he couldn't chase a podium, his performance at Zandvoort showed he is a force to be reckoned with in the future. This is an opportunity he grabbed with both hands, and it could be a turning point in his career with the main team.
With Verstappen's failure, the battle at the top is getting more interesting. Can Lawson maintain this form in the upcoming races? Or is this just a flash in the pan? What is clear is that Red Bull now has two reliable drivers, albeit one still in the proving stage.
