Formula E, Sportrik Media - Mitch Evans will leave Jaguar TCS Racing at the end of the 2026 Formula E season, bringing to a close one of the longest-standing driver-team partnerships in the championship.
The New Zealander has been linked with a departure for much of the current campaign, and the confirmation formalises a move that had appeared increasingly likely. Evans has been a central figure in Formula E, holding the record for the most race victories in the series.
He joined Jaguar for its debut season in Formula E in 2016 and has since remained with the British manufacturer throughout his entire career in the all-electric championship. The partnership has delivered sustained competitiveness and played a key role in establishing Jaguar as a leading force in the modern Formula E era.

Despite his impending exit, Evans remains firmly in contention for the drivers’ world championship this season—a title he has narrowly missed on several occasions. His focus remains on maximising that opportunity over the remaining rounds.
"To have been with Jaguar TCS Racing right from the beginning and achieved so much success throughout the last ten years in Formula E has been incredible," Evans said.
"It has been a memorable experience with many highlights, but the time is right to embark on a new challenge for next season."
Signs of the split had emerged earlier in the year when Evans confirmed he was not involved in Jaguar’s Gen4 development programme. Internal dynamics have also come under scrutiny at times during the season, including radio tensions observed in recent races such as Madrid.
The departure is expected to open the door for Stoffel Vandoorne to step up from a reserve role to a full-time race seat at Jaguar. Meanwhile, Evans is widely anticipated to pursue a new opportunity ahead of the Gen4 era.
Jaguar team principal Ian James emphasised that the decision was made mutually, with both parties maintaining a shared commitment to current championship objectives.
"The partnership between Jaguar TCS Racing and Mitch has been synonymous with the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship," James stated.
"With 11 races remaining, we will continue to fully support his efforts in the drivers’ championship, as well as our fight for the teams’ and manufacturers’ titles."
As the season continues, Jaguar faces the dual challenge of maintaining its competitive position while preparing for a future without one of its most successful drivers. In the short term, the focus remains firmly on delivering results on track before transitioning into the next phase of the team’s Formula E project.
