Motorsport, Sportrik Media - Max Verstappen is set to compete in the NLS2 event at the Nürburgring Nordschleife this weekend, with preparations intensifying within Verstappen Racing ahead of the endurance challenge.
In the lead-up to the event, the team has been conducting preparatory running at Circuit Zandvoort in the Netherlands, focusing on the Mercedes-AMG GT3 machinery that will be used at the Nordschleife. Activity from the test surfaced via social media posts by Jules Gounon, one of Verstappen’s teammates for the race.
Verstappen Racing will field a three-driver lineup consisting of Verstappen, Gounon, and Daniel Juncadella, operating in collaboration with Winward Racing. The lineup was confirmed following the release of the provisional entry list ahead of the NLS2 round.

Visual content from Zandvoort shows the Mercedes-AMG GT3 undergoing intensive preparation, including setup refinement and system checks, as the team completes final adjustments before heading to the Nürburgring. The focus remains on ensuring optimal balance and reliability for one of the most demanding circuits in global motorsport.
However, Verstappen himself has not participated in the Zandvoort running. The four-time Formula 1 World Champion had previously indicated that he would travel directly to the Nürburgring on Thursday evening, with track running scheduled for the following day.
This approach underlines a strategic emphasis on direct adaptation to the Nordschleife, a circuit known for its 20-plus kilometre layout, significant elevation changes, and a complex sequence of high- and low-speed corners that demand precision and experience.
The NLS2 schedule will feature qualifying and the race on Saturday, placing importance on final preparations and track familiarisation in the days leading up to the event.
Verstappen’s participation further reflects his expanding involvement in endurance racing beyond Formula 1, aligning with his previously stated ambition to explore multiple disciplines within motorsport. With an experienced driver lineup and technical support from Winward Racing, Verstappen Racing is positioned to deliver a competitive performance.
Attention now shifts to Verstappen’s adaptation at the Nordschleife and the team’s overall execution, as they prepare to tackle one of the most technically challenging environments in racing before returning focus to the ongoing Formula 1 season.
