Martins Sesks claimed the fifth European Rally Championship victory of his career at the final round of the 2026 season, Rally Six Cities North of Portugal. The Latvian driver delivered a masterclass performance to seal the victory by over a minute ahead of his closest competitors.
Sesks' dominant drive aboard his Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 not only highlighted his exceptional speed on gravel roads but also confirmed Team MRF Tyres as the ERC teams' champions for the fourth time in 2026. The weekend was packed with high-drama moments, changing track conditions, and intense battles throughout the competitive stages.
Entering the event as a pre-event favorite following his impressive win in Wales and his previous national successes, Kris Meeke faced an uphill battle right from the start. A costly mistake during Saturday's qualifying session forced the Northern Irishman into the unfavourable position of sweeping the loose gravel roads.

Despite giving his best effort to salvage a solid result in his Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, Meeke ultimately crashed out on SS4 and was unable to restart on Sunday. Meanwhile, the battle at the front intensified as fierce rivals traded fast times across the demanding Portuguese stages.
Late-race drama struck the chasing pack when mechanical trouble derailed their pace, allowing rising talents to capitalize on the misfortune and secure memorable podium finishes. Sesks safely navigated the final stages to wrap up his year with maximum points, cementing a stellar end to the European rally season.
