The Ferrari team successfully executed a well-planned strategic split during the Formula 1 race in Singapore by distributing different tyre tactics to their drivers. Charles Leclerc started the race from second on the grid using soft compound Pirelli tyres, while Lewis Hamilton lined up in third place utilizing medium compound tyres for a longer initial stint.
Throughout the Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, a Virtual Safety Car phase was cleverly utilized by the Maranello pit wall to pull Leclerc in for a fresh set of tyres. This tactical decision allowed the Monegasque driver to dramatically close the gap to the race leader in the closing stages, although it ultimately fell short of securing the race victory.
Conversely, a difficult situation unfolded for the seven-time world champion as he failed to dive into the pit lane when called. Towards the end of the race, the British driver had no answer for the charging rivals behind him on fresher rubber, forcing him to settle for a disappointing sixth-place finish after struggling heavily with tyre degradation.

Team Principal Fred Vasseur provided a candid assessment regarding the costly miscommunication during the race. The decision to stay out on track was ultimately made by the driver himself, as both cars were summoned to the pit lane under VSC conditions, but missing the pit entry proved to be a massive missed opportunity for a double podium.
According to Speedweek, Fred Vasseur emphasized that he was not angry with the outcome since the overall race weekend yielded strong performances, including solid results in the sprint and the main race. Nevertheless, discussions between the team and the driver are mandatory to avoid repeating such costly mistakes in future rounds of the 2026 season.
