The final practice session of the MotoGP weekend at the Lusail International Circuit delivered a stunning twist as Aprilia completely locked out the top four positions on the timesheets. Amid mounting tension in the championship battle at this pivotal stage of the season, Marco Bezzecchi emerged at the sharp end of the field following a frantic late-session time attack.
For the majority of the session, Marc Marquez set the pace and looked comfortable dictating proceedings at the front. However, the status quo was dramatically upended when a powerful flurry of fast laps from the Aprilia contingent displaced the Ducati riders who had previously held firm control during practice.
Bezzecchi led the charge aboard his factory Aprilia machine, stopping the clock with a lap time of 1:51.571s. That benchmark proved sufficient to secure the top spot by just over a tenth of a second, highlighting his impressive adaptation and composure under severe pressure from the chasing pack in Qatar.
The Hinwil-based factory's lockout was bolstered by an exceptional performance from the Trackhouse Aprilia duo, who secured second and third respectively. Raul Fernandez led his teammate Ai Ogura across the line in a strong display of independent team pace. Meanwhile, Jorge Martin delivered a surprise fourth-place finish, displaying remarkable resilience and speed despite managing lingering injury concerns.
Marquez ultimately slipped to fifth by the time the chequered flag waved, while Fermin Aldeguer claimed sixth ahead of Diogo Moreira and Fabio Di Giannantonio. Pedro Acosta continued to build on his rhythm from Friday to take ninth, rounding out the top ten alongside Luca Marini as Francesco Bagnaia finished just outside in eleventh.
