Marco Bezzecchi says he is still hoping to improve his physical condition ahead of the German MotoGP at the Sachsenring after a fast crash at the Dutch Grand Prix in Assen.
The Aprilia rider fell on the second lap of the main race at Assen two weeks ago and was taken to hospital. No serious injuries were detected, but Bezzecchi suggested he is not yet fully recovered before a crucial round this weekend.
“I’m happy and keen to get back in the saddle,” Bezzecchi said. “I obviously hope to improve a bit more in terms of physical condition over the next few days, but my recovery has been going well so far.”

The situation comes during a difficult run for Bezzecchi. From a possible 111 points across the last three rounds, he has scored only 13 after a non-score in the Brno sprint, suspension from the grand prix, involvement in a Turn 1 collision triggered by team-mate Jorge Martin, and then his Assen crash.
The effect has been immediate in the championship. Bezzecchi, who had previously led the standings, is now seven points behind Jorge Martin heading into the German MotoGP, making the Sachsenring an important chance to halt his recent slide before the second half of the season.
“I can’t wait to embrace my team again because, after Assen, we need to see one another again and continue looking forward together,” Bezzecchi said.
On the other side of the Aprilia garage, Martin arrives in stronger form after finishing third at Assen. He admitted he still needs more knowledge of the Aprilia to fully exploit his riding style, but views the Sachsenring as a positive opportunity because he enjoys the circuit.
Martin has strong previous form at the German MotoGP, including a double victory in 2023 with Pramac Ducati and a sprint win in 2024. Bezzecchi stood on the sprint podium at the Sachsenring last year, but has not yet taken a Sunday podium in Germany.
