Marc Marquez Rates His Chances of Retiring Within Three Years at 70 Percent

Marc Marquez has opened up about his future in MotoGP and how securing the 2025 world championship has fundamentally shifted his perspective on racing and life.

In an extensive conversation at Phillip Island, the Spanish icon admitted that the chances of him walking away from the sport when his current contract with the factory Ducati squad expires sit firmly at 70 percent.

This candid assessment marks a stark contrast to his remarks twelve months prior in Qatar, where he was completely unequivocal about his intention to continue racing for the foreseeable future.

A whirlwind 2025 campaign saw him dominate the grid to claim his first title since 2019, only to suffer another heavy arm crash in Indonesia that forced him back into a grueling rehabilitation cycle.

That physical setback and the subsequent adjustment to his limits on the bike have transformed how the #93 rider views the remaining chapters of his illustrious career.

"This time, it's a little more complicated to answer that question. I don't know exactly, but, if I had to put a figure on it, I'd say there's a 70% chance that I'll have retired within three years, and a 30% chance that I'll still be racing," Marquez stated.

The emotional catharsis of his latest championship triumph has brought an unexpected sense of inner peace, allowing him to accept results outside the podium without the fierce frustration of his past.

"Precisely because of last year's title, I now feel calm and relaxed. That also explains why, in races where I don't feel entirely comfortable, I can finish sixth or seventh," he explained.

"When the time comes, whether I win one more or one less won't make any difference. When I retire, I'll do so as a free man, at peace with myself," the reigning champion concluded.
