Marc Marquez secured a vital victory in the sprint race at the Lusail Circuit, Qatar, following a fierce clash with Marco Bezzecchi. This win extends his championship lead to 49 points over Jorge Martin, placing him in a commanding position for the title as the season nears its conclusion.
The tension was palpable from the start. Bezzecchi, starting from pole, dominated the opening moments, but the race was halted by red flags on lap two following a major collision between Francesco Bagnaia and Fermin Aldeguer. Bagnaia was transported to the medical center, while Aldeguer received a double long-lap penalty for the aggressive maneuver that sent the Italian rider into a series of tumbles.
Upon the restart for a ten-lap dash, Marquez demonstrated superior technical control in his late braking and racing line management. The defining moment of the race occurred at turn one when the two leaders battled for position. "I was highly concentrated and defended myself as best as I could," Marquez explained regarding the contact that resulted in Bezzecchi crashing out. Despite the protest from Aprilia's leadership, stewards ruled the incident a racing accident.

Marquez noted that his airbag deployed during the initial impact, causing a momentary lapse in his rhythm that allowed Jorge Martin to take the lead briefly. However, the championship leader regained control with surgical precision. In the final lap, he managed the gap effectively against Fabio Di Giannantonio, who surged late to snatch second place from Martin.
Reflecting on the event, Marquez remained focused on the wellbeing of his teammate. "We hope that Pecco is okay, because it was a nasty crash," he said. With this victory, his 25th in a sprint format, Marquez now holds a significant advantage heading into the final rounds in Portimao and Valencia.
