Ahead of a brand new era in the world rally championship, Toyota has shaken up the paddock by splitting its ambitious campaign into two distinct three-driver outfits: Toyota Racing and Gazoo Racing Toyota. This bold tactical move introduces not only a completely overhauled driver lineup but also a striking visual contrast across the brand's Rally1 machinery.
Toyota Racing will field Elfyn Evans, Oliver Solberg, and Sami Pajari behind the wheel of the GR Celica Rally1. Meanwhile, Gazoo Racing Toyota has entrusted Takamoto Katsuta, Ott Tanak, and Kalle Rovanpera with the proven GR Yaris Rally1. Beneath the distinctive exterior panels, both cars share the exact same tubular frame and core mechanical technology.
Toyota team principal Jari-Matti Latvala addressed the ongoing paddock curiosity regarding whether differing bodywork translates to on-stage performance gaps, pointing out specific handling traits tailored to different road profiles.

"Technically, they are exactly the same. But on some roads, probably the faster roads, maybe the Celica is aerodynamically a bit better with the performance. But on the small roads, Yaris can be a bit better," Latvala detailed when discussing the aerodynamic nuances of the dual-car strategy.
Latvala emphasized that these subtle aerodynamic shifts will average out over the course of the championship. The unconventional approach was primarily designed to spark intense internal rivalry and deliver heightened entertainment for motorsport fans worldwide.
