The joint project between Spain’s RMC Motorsport and the national motorsport federation, RFEDA, has taken crucial forward steps in its preparation to enter the pinnacle of world rallying. This collaborative effort has been meticulously designed around the latest technical regulations, aiming to shake up the competitive landscape in the upcoming world championship season.
In its latest official statement, the squad announced that the first images showcasing the definitive design of its Rally1 car will be released to the public in the coming weeks. Alongside the visual unveiling, the official name and complete identity of the brand-new machine will also be revealed to motorsport enthusiasts worldwide.
The Spanish outfit has recently shared the first technical details regarding its forthcoming rally challenger. According to the team, more than 700 working hours have been dedicated solely to the design and engineering of the headlight assemblies, highlighting their relentless pursuit of aerodynamic perfection and efficiency.

The extensive headlight development program has focused heavily on aerodynamic performance and significant weight reduction. The custom fiberglass light housings have been engineered to actively manage airflow around the front end, while the distinctive daytime running lights cleverly form the letter R as a direct nod to Roberto Mendez and his legacy.
Team founder Mendez previously confirmed that the very first shakedown tests for the car are scheduled to take place before the end of the year. Former Hyundai World Rally Championship star Dani Sordo, who serves as the Spanish squad's primary development driver, will take a leading role in putting the new machinery through its paces during the rigorous testing programme.
Interest in the exciting new project has already exceeded expectations within the paddock. Mendez revealed that no fewer than 13 interested parties have reached out to the team to inquire about acquiring or partnering up for the newly developed car.
Looking ahead to the competitive calendar, the Spanish team aims to contest at least five rounds of the WRC championship. Their highly anticipated maiden outing is officially planned to be the iconic Rally Islas Canarias, which takes place during the spring season.
