Lando Norris claimed a superb victory in a weather-affected Sao Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos, while Mercedes officially clinched the 2026 Formula 1 constructors’ championship. The McLaren driver dropped the lead at the start but mastered the unpredictable track conditions to convert pole position into his third win of the season, showcasing supreme racecraft throughout the afternoon.

Behind the race winner, Max Verstappen delivered another phenomenal recovery drive. Starting all the way back from 21st on the grid, the Red Bull charger carved his way through the field with relentless pace to secure a remarkable second place. His teammate Isack Hadjar completed the podium lineup in third after a solid and composed performance.

Mercedes cemented their legacy as George Russell brought his car home in fourth place ahead of newly crowned world champion Andrea Kimi Antonelli, sealing the team's constructors' crown with three races to spare. Further down the order, Oscar Piastri finished a distant sixth, while Charles Leclerc executed a robust late-lap move on Liam Lawson to snatch seventh on the final tour.

Late rain showers shuffled the pack and ruined strategies for several front-runners. Lewis Hamilton looked set to finish as the leading Ferrari before a delayed switch back to intermediate tires cost him dearly. The British veteran survived a spin on entry to the pit lane to finish ninth, as Nico Hulkenberg rounded out the top ten to secure the final point for Audi.

Reliability issues also played a part in a chaotic Grand Prix. Lance Stroll retired due to a suspected battery failure on his Aston Martin, while veteran Fernando Alonso failed to turn his strong starting position into points, finishing 12th. Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas was unable to take the start after Cadillac suffered a mechanical glitch on the grid.
