Lando Norris has indicated that he could one day pursue motorsport's prestigious Triple Crown after already completing what he views as the Formula 1 component of the historic challenge.
The Triple Crown traditionally consists of victories in the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Although there remains debate over whether a Formula 1 world championship can substitute for a Monaco victory, Norris has effectively completed the Formula 1 portion after winning Monaco and securing a world title.
The reigning Formula 1 champion made the comments during a visit to Indianapolis earlier this week. When asked whether he could imagine competing in the Indianapolis 500 in the future, the McLaren driver stopped short of ruling out the possibility.

"You never know. I don't want to say no. I certainly want to try things outside of Formula 1. I'm a racing fan. I love Formula 1 more than anything, but I love all forms of racing. I love bikes, rallying, IndyCar and motorsport in general," Norris said.
The remarks are particularly notable given Norris has already achieved many of the major milestones associated with a Formula 1 career. Having secured grand prix victories, conquered Monaco and captured a world championship, the British driver now has greater freedom to consider long-term ambitions beyond Formula 1.
From a historical perspective, both the Indianapolis 500 and Le Mans present challenges that differ dramatically from Formula 1. Indianapolis demands expertise in high-speed oval racing, while Le Mans requires mastery of endurance racing, including traffic management, strategic flexibility and shared driving responsibilities.
Norris acknowledged the special significance of the Indianapolis 500, not only because of its status as one of the world's most prestigious races but also due to its connection with McLaren's motorsport heritage. The Woking-based organisation has a long history in Indianapolis and regards the Triple Crown as an important part of its identity.
"Whether it's IndyCar or specifically the Indy 500, I know the Indy 500 is the one. It's part of the Triple Crown for McLaren as well. I've won Monaco, that's part one done. I've got a championship under my belt," he explained.
Several Formula 1 drivers have attempted to complete the Triple Crown in the modern era. Fernando Alonso remains the most prominent example after winning Le Mans and making multiple attempts to conquer Indianapolis. Meanwhile, Nico Hulkenberg secured victory at Le Mans while still maintaining an active Formula 1 career.
For Norris, the Triple Crown has not yet become a formal objective. However, seeing fellow Formula 1 drivers succeed in other disciplines has clearly increased the appeal of exploring opportunities beyond grand prix racing.
"There are still two more to do. I've never really thought about achieving the Triple Crown, but I've already ticked one of the boxes. Seeing Fernando attempt it and things like that makes it more inviting. You never know," Norris said.
Although his primary focus remains Formula 1 and McLaren, the comments suggest Norris is beginning to view his motorsport career through a broader lens. If his success in Formula 1 continues over the coming years, Indianapolis and Le Mans could ultimately become the next major chapters in the career of one of the most accomplished drivers of his generation.
