The qualifying session for the Brazilian GP at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Interlagos delivered intense drama after heavy rain tested the skill and mental fortitude of the world's best drivers. Amidst treacherous wet track conditions, Lando Norris masterfully clinched pole position for the upcoming main race.
The British driver posted a stellar lap time of 1:27.470 on the soaked Sao Paulo asphalt. This brilliant performance showcased the McLaren star's composure in extreme weather, edging out his closest rivals who struggled to find traction through the demanding corners of the iconic circuit.
Behind Norris, fierce competition unfolded in the top three. George Russell secured second place with a time of 1:27.674, followed closely by his Mercedes teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli in third with 1:28.095. However, Russell's front-row lock-out comes with a caveat as he faces a five-place grid penalty for Sunday's race.

Grid penalty drama also struck Scuderia Ferrari as Charles Leclerc finished fourth quickest but will serve a 10-place grid drop. Meanwhile, his teammate Lewis Hamilton failed to make the cut into Q3 and was forced to settle for 11th on the timesheets.
Further down the order, reigning world champion Max Verstappen opted not to run in Q2 due to a back-of-the-grid penalty, setting the stage for a chaotic and unpredictable Grand Prix. Read our in-depth analysis and check the full qualifying results to stay ahead of the weekend action.
