The race weekend at Lusail Circuit turned into a major heartbreak for Marco Bezzecchi following a high-stakes incident with his title rival. The Aprilia Racing rider had previously dominated the time sheets, smashing the lap record in the desert and proving to the entire paddock that his pace was untouchable.
That initial supremacy was evident right from the opening lights, but proceedings were abruptly halted by a red flag following a massive crash involving Pecco Bagnaia. The subsequent restart proved to be the ultimate turning point that reshaped the entire trajectory of the sprint race.
When the grid reformed for the second start, Marc Marquez timed his launch much better from second position and immediately dictated the pace at the front. The tension escalated rapidly as Bezzecchi began applying immense pressure on the multiple-time world champion.

The decisive moment unfolded when the Spaniard ran slightly wide at the first corner, prompting the Aprilia rider to dive cleanly up the inside. However, contact became inevitable as Marquez aggressively cut back across the apex, sending Bezzecchi tumbling into the gravel trap.
"Now I cannot change anything, it has been decided. And from the outside, decisions have also been made which I must accept. I was on the inside, I didn't see Marc on the outside, and a second later I was on the ground. These things can happen," Bezzecchi stated calmly during the media debrief.
The DNF effectively extinguished his remaining mathematical chances in the championship battle. Despite the bitter disappointment of seeing his title dream slip away after leading the standings earlier in the year, the Italian vowed to channel his remaining energy into extracting the maximum performance from Sunday's main Grand Prix.
