The Formula 1 race weekend at the Interlagos circuit immediately delivered high intensity as the newly crowned world champion completed over 60 laps during Friday's practice sessions. Kimi Antonelli emerged as the fastest driver on the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace track, cementing his dominance just days after securing his historic status as the youngest Formula 1 world champion in Mexico. His benchmark lap time of 1:10.763 minutes successfully outpaced his closest pursuers at the sharp end of the field.

The impressive performance from the young Mercedes star was evident not only during single-lap qualifying simulations but also in long-run race pace. However, his margin at the top remained relatively close to his main competitors. Lando Norris driving for McLaren slotted in right behind, falling just under two and a half tenths shy of the ultimate daily benchmark.

Meanwhile, the leading contender from Red Bull Racing also posed a genuine threat around the Sao Paulo layout. The reigning star was 0.259 seconds adrift of the target time set by the Silver Arrows driver, indicating that the battle for grid supremacy this weekend will be fiercely contested.

Reflecting on his strong Friday showing, the Italian driver expressed his overall satisfaction with the car's balance across all conditions. "That was not a bad day at all," Antonelli summarized with a cheerful demeanor. "I felt comfortable in the car, both on a single lap and during long-run race trims. Of course, there is still some work left to do, but I feel good so far and I am really looking forward to qualifying tomorrow."

Looking ahead to the grid-deciding session, the 20-year-old asserted his confidence regarding potential pole position while issuing a cautionary note about the opposition. "I think we have a good chance of fighting for pole in qualifying," he explained. "At the same time, the gaps are extremely small and everyone is very close together. McLaren is strong, and Red Bull Racing has also presented themselves in solid form. Therefore, we must give our absolute best to be fully prepared."

Weather conditions will also play a pivotal role throughout the remainder of the Sao Paulo weekend. Forecasts predict thunderstorms ahead of qualifying and potential rain for Sunday's grand prix. These unpredictable elements will undoubtedly test the adaptability and strategic execution of every team in the paddock.
