Jorge Martin Targets Front Rows at Qatar MotoGP Despite Wrist Injury Pain

The action at the Lusail International Circuit kicked off with high drama as Jorge Martin delivered a resilient performance aboard his Aprilia Racing machine. Despite riding through significant physical discomfort due to a fractured wrist sustained in Australia, the Spaniard successfully secured a direct spot in Qualifying 2 during Friday's practice sessions. This encouraging start proved that his raw speed remains intact as he fights to keep his championship hopes alive.

Unlike his frustrating weekend in Malaysia where he was forced to withdraw, Martin completed substantial mileage and felt a clear improvement in his physical condition. The reigning top contender showed impressive pace through the sweeping corners of Lusail, proving he has what it takes to challenge near the front of the grid. He firmly believes that with proper medical management, he can fight for a strong grid position.

"If I put everything together, maybe the first two rows are possible, so that's a good target maybe," Martin stated following Friday's track action. Looking ahead to the demanding race distance, he added, "I think we can manage the race with some more painkillers."

The upcoming Sprint race on Saturday covering 11 laps and Sunday's 22-lap Grand Prix will test his wrist endurance to the absolute limit. Mathematically, scoring just seven points across the weekend will keep his title aspirations alive until the penultimate round in Portugal. Meanwhile, championship leader Marc Marquez aims to extend his advantage to seal the crown under the Lusail floodlights.

While heavy braking is no longer his primary concern, Martin admitted that rapid direction changes and heavy lean angles still trigger sharp pain in his wrist. The physical compensation has also placed extra strain on his back muscles. Yet, his unwavering determination to push through adversity highlights the fierce competitive spirit that defines the premier class this season.
