MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Johann Zarco of LCR Honda set the fastest time in Friday Practice at the 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix in Goiania, ahead of Marc Marquez and rookie Toprak Razgatlioglu in highly changeable conditions.
Following a damp and delayed FP1 session, the afternoon Practice began on a dry track but under threatening skies. Light rain quickly altered the competitive dynamic, forcing riders into early time attacks while still adapting to slick tyres for the first time of the weekend.
Zarco’s benchmark lap of 1’21.257, set within the opening phase, remained unbeaten to the end. He finished 0.125 seconds clear of reigning world champion Marquez on the factory Ducati, while Pramac Yamaha rookie Razgatlioglu secured an impressive third place, underlining his rapid adaptation to MotoGP machinery.

The evolving track conditions immediately caught out several riders. Brad Binder was the first to crash at Turn 4, followed shortly by Jack Miller. Home rider Diogo Moreira briefly climbed to second before also falling at the same corner.
Early in the session, the provisional top ten featured Jorge Martin, Pedro Acosta, Razgatlioglu, Fermin Aldeguer, Francesco Bagnaia, Ai Ogura, Luca Marini, and Alex Rins.
As conditions worsened mid-session, several riders managed late improvements, including Alex Marquez who secured sixth for Gresini Racing, and Fabio Quartararo in seventh.
In contrast, Aprilia riders struggled significantly. Thai Grand Prix winner Marco Bezzecchi finished 20th, while Raul Fernandez was 21st, sending both into Qualifying 1.
With track conditions deteriorating to a point where slick tyres were ineffective but full wet tyres were not viable, most riders remained in the pits during the closing stages. Bezzecchi attempted a late run but was unable to improve his position.
Another difficult session unfolded for VR46 Racing Team rider Franco Morbidelli, who ran out of fuel before the end of the session.
The results place Zarco at the top heading into qualifying, while several key contenders face the added challenge of progressing through Q1. With unstable weather conditions expected to continue, adaptability will remain a decisive factor.
