Jason Plato 'Stunned and Unsettled' After Shock BTCC Team Exit

Jason Plato has finally broken his silence. Two days after the racing team he founded, Plato Racing, went into administration, the British Touring Car Championship legend admitted he was left "stunned and deeply unsettled" after being removed from the team's management. The timing is particularly bitter: the team had just celebrated its maiden BTCC victory at Knockhill, with Adam Morgan and Dan Rowbottom securing a 1-2 finish.

The decision hit like a thunderbolt. Plato, who also served as CEO, Director, and Team Principal, revealed he was dismissed without warning, explanation, or discussion. "I was removed from my positions without knowing why," he said in an official statement released on Tuesday.

Despite the ousting, his support for the team—now rebranded as CPRL—remains unwavering. "My backing for the team remains absolute, even though I am no longer involved and will not be present at Donington Park this weekend," he added, wishing the drivers and personnel a successful race weekend.

Amid the administrative turmoil, Cataclean and TOCA moved swiftly to secure the team's future for the remainder of the 2026 season. Arafino Advisory Ltd, the administrators of Plato Racing, are hoping for a swift sale, with Cataclean funding operations in the interim.

Interestingly, without Plato at the helm, CPRL have looked stronger than ever. In qualifying for the Donington Park GP, Adam Morgan and Dan Rowbottom once again showcased their pace, locking out the front row for Race 1—a second consecutive impressive performance after their Knockhill heroics. The duo's Mercedes A35 Saloons were untouchable, with little threat from behind.

Plato's departure leaves a big question mark. After all, the team he built from scratch in July 2025 is now thriving just as he loses control. But for BTCC fans, the priority is that the team remains competitive and the championship battle stays intense. The Donington weekend will be a true test for CPRL, with or without Plato in the garage.
