Hamilton was very close to missing Q3 entirely - just 0.001s up on 11th-placed Gabriel Bortoleto - and indicated his Q2 session was hindered by Leclerc's run plan preferences. "We were supposed to do a push-cool-cool-push. But because everyone was waiting and Charles didn't want to go out first, we had to wait-wait-wait. And then we only got one push," he explained.
Q3 was operationally suboptimal - he was supposed to be right behind Leclerc on both runs, but Ferrari didn't send him out early enough, leaving him to run alone. This disrupted his rhythm, as following another car provides a valuable slipstream that changes braking zones.
This isn't just about racing technique; it affects commercial value and team strategy. Ferrari, as a factory team with global sponsors, needs maximum results to attract advertisers and partners. Poor coordination could be a costly blunder.
