Oliver Bearman has admitted that Haas is now the "10th best team" in Formula 1 after being overtaken by Aston Martin at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The American outfit started the 2026 season strongly but has failed to score in the last five races.
Haas picked up points in five of the opening six rounds, but a lack of continuous upgrades has hurt their performance. Their last major package came in Montreal back in May, and since then, rivals have surged ahead.
"We had a really, really good first few races where the car was quick, performing well, and we were really happy. But then, step by step, others caught up, others overtook, and now they've left us totally behind," said Oliver Bearman.

In Hungary, Haas suffered a Q1 exit, while Aston Martin brought a major chassis upgrade that lifted Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll ahead. Now, Aston Martin will enjoy an updated Honda engine at Zandvoort, making Bearman pessimistic about Haas's position.
"At the start of the year, we were fighting, we were quicker than Racing Bull. I remember overtaking both of them in Australia and driving away, and we wouldn't dream of doing that these days," Bearman added.
Bearman attributes the lack of upgrades to Haas's status as a privateer team with the smallest budget on the grid. "That's the biggest issue. We've been overtaken right now. We are the 10th best team. It really hurts, myself and all the others," he said.
With rivals continuously upgrading, Haas faces a tough battle to hold on to seventh in the championship. Bearman remains determined, but the reality is stark.
