The fierce on-track friction between Ferrari teammates Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc continues to trigger intense debates across the global motorsport paddock. Their aggressive battles for the exact same piece of asphalt have frequently boiled over, creating massive strategic headaches for the Scuderia.
Former Haas team principal Gunther Steiner has offered a candid assessment regarding the intense intra-team rivalry. Speaking on the Red Flag podcast, the outspoken 61-year-old analyzed the behavioral differences between the Monegasque star and other established world champions on the Formula 1 grid.
Steiner pointed out that Leclerc's primary weakness lies in his tendency to let raw emotion dictate his racing decisions, contrasting him sharply with veterans who approach every single corner with calculated precision and cold composure.

"I believe that Leclerc gets too carried away by emotions without thinking things through. The other stars, however, calculate every single step. In this regard, Leclerc is not on the level of Verstappen, Alonso, and Hamilton, who are much cooler and hardly ever make mistakes, whereas Leclerc slips up more often there," Steiner stated.
Elaborating further, Steiner noted that Leclerc's fiery temperament often works against him when fighting for long-term championship stability. He contrasted this impulsive approach with the calculated maturity displayed by elite winners and rising prodigies alike.
"Leclerc is much more fiery than the three drivers I mentioned, and another driver I could also add is Kimi Antonelli. If we consider his age, he proves to be wide awake and calculating in the races," Steiner added.
Steiner praised the impressive tactical restraint shown by young talents who consistently settle for safe points rather than risking everything for marginal gains, highlighting the exact mindset required to conquer the pinnacle of motorsport.
