Franco Colapinto has delivered his strongest statement yet, publicly demanding that Argentinian supporters put an immediate end to the wave of online abuse that has plagued the Formula 1 2026 paddock in recent months.
The toxic behavior from a faction of fans intensified following Grands Prix at Zandvoort, Madrid, and Baku. Targets of the vitriolic comments included FIA stewards, Pierre Gasly and his family, as well as championship contender Lando Norris, prompting repeated counter-statements from the Alpine squad.
While the 23-year-old driver was previously somewhat defensive when addressing the matter after earlier race weekends, he finally took a firm stance via a Spanish-language video posted on his Instagram account.
"Hello everyone, there’s something very important that I’ve needed to talk to you about for some time," Colapinto stated in the video addressing his fanbase directly.
"But sometimes, we go too far. Instead of supporting me, we end up criticizing people and attacking other drivers, other colleagues, my team-mates, my mechanics, my engineers – people I work with every single day. I know you think you’re defending me, but you’re actually doing the opposite. You’re not helping me or my future," added the driver who currently sits 12th in the 2026 standings with 27 points.
