Liam Lawson Trades Helmet for Guitar Ahead of Austin F1 Race

Ahead of a thrilling Formula 1 race weekend at the Circuit of the Americas, Liam Lawson is set to temporarily swap his racing helmet for a musical instrument to showcase his creative side off the track. The Racing Bulls driver is confirmed to headline the live VCARB Garage Sessions event scheduled to take place in Austin next weekend.

This special live music performance is slated for Inn Cahoots on October 22 as part of the Esses Bazaar event lineup. Billed under the title Liam Lawson & Friends, the New Zealander will not be performing alone on stage. He will be joined by his brother, Marcus, alongside childhood friends Thomas and Harrison to entertain the crowds gathered for the festivities.

Aside from the F1 driver's musical set, the stage will also feature prominent country singer-songwriters including Jonny Capeci, Scoot Teasley, and Jess Farren. Performances from up-and-coming talents Alison Nichols and Drake Milligan will undoubtedly add to the vibrant pre-race atmosphere leading up to the United States Grand Prix.

Despite his excitement, Lawson admitted that preparing for a live music performance presents unique challenges amid a demanding racing schedule. As reported by Motorsport.com, he shared that he never feels fully prepared because it is difficult to fit into his routine as a professional athlete. However, sharing the stage with people he has played music with since he was eight years old makes the nervous excitement entirely worthwhile.

This off-track endeavor highlights an impressive ongoing season for the young driver. He currently sits ninth in the drivers' world championship standings with 75 points, while his team holds fifth place in the constructors' standings with 100 points heading into the United States Grand Prix weekend from October 23-25.
