Ford's major return to the World Rally Championship brings an intriguing twist for M-Sport and its roster of drivers. Last season served primarily as a learning curve where Jonathan Armstrong made his top-class debut, securing seventh place as his season-best result in the final round.
While his seat for the upcoming campaign remains unconfirmed, the American manufacturer's involvement opens up fresh strategic discussions within the service park. Observers should note that the Blue Oval's long-term vision is firmly set on 2029, when an entirely new rally car is scheduled to make its competitive debut.
Addressing the scale of immediate factory backing, Jonathan Armstrong offered a realistic assessment of the transition. "Maybe some technical support, maybe some smaller budget for some things. But let's say it won't be full support yet," he stated.

He also highlighted how this transitional phase could align with his ongoing career path. "This maybe can work in our favour if we can continue with Motorsport Ireland next year. If they still need some drivers to bring budget, like we've been able to do, then it can work quite well for us," Armstrong reflected.
Meanwhile, team principal Richard Millener and the management group are carefully weighing multiple driver options before finalizing their lineup. As the factory pursues top-tier talent from rival squads, Armstrong remains driven to secure another year to prove his pace and be part of the brand's exciting future.
