The DTM championship and water technology leader BWT have reached a major sustainability milestone following the conclusion of the 2026 racing season. Through their ongoing partnership with the ADAC, the initiative successfully curbed the reliance on single-use plastic and glass bottles across all race weekends.
Since the collaboration began back in 2021, a staggering total of 2,012,502 bottles have been successfully eliminated from motorsport events. During the 2026 campaign alone, up to 70 dedicated water dispensers stationed across the paddock and venue grounds helped save 548,304 bottles from being discarded.
A core highlight of the partnership is the BWT Race Lap Award, which turns every competitive lap into a charitable contribution. Every single circuit rotation completed by drivers like Thomas Preining translates into a four-euro donation directed straight to the b.waterMISSION initiative in rural Africa.

Over the course of the 16 championship rounds in 2026, drivers completed a combined 12,114 laps, generating an initial fund of 48,456 euros. Both partners subsequently rounded up the final amount to 70.000 euros to support vital clean drinking water projects.
Anna Grubeck, Head of Sportsponsoring at BWT, emphasized that true success extends far beyond the finish line. Read our in-depth analysis on how motorsport is driving positive environmental change this year.
