Christian Horner Breaks Silence on Red Bull Legacy and 14 Titles

Although no longer patrolling the Formula 1 paddock, Christian Horner remains closely tied to the ongoing success achieved by Red Bull Racing. The competitive resurgence witnessed on track heavily stems from technical developments and the ambitious in-house power unit project initiated during his long-standing tenure as team principal before his departure in July 2025.

The decision to build a proprietary power unit in partnership with Ford was initially met with widespread skepticism across the paddock when the venture was launched back in 2021. Yet, through sheer determination and strategic planning, the Milton Keynes outfit successfully engineered a highly competitive engine capable of matching traditional giants like Ferrari in modern motorsport.

Reflecting on his transformative journey with the outfit, the British manager highlighted the massive workforce expansion achieved under his watch, scaling the organization from a modest startup operation into an elite, multi-championship-winning racing powerhouse over two decades of intense dedication.

"When I arrived at Red Bull, there were fewer than 400 people. When I left, there were 2,200. I put my heart and soul into that company and convinced people to leave other teams to come to Red Bull," Horner stated in an interview with The Guardian, as highlighted by FormulaPassion.

Despite expressing profound sadness over missing out on witnessing the engine's debut track appearance firsthand, Horner emphasized that the historic milestones secured by Max Verstappen and the entire squad served as ultimate validation of their unorthodox, boundary-pushing corporate culture within the sport.

"No one can take away the 124 victories and 14 championships from me, but I felt particularly hurt and deprived of the opportunity to see the Powertrains-built engine win," he concluded, underscoring his indelible statistical footprint in the history books of grand prix racing.
