A heated war of words has erupted in the Supercars paddock after Grove Racing boss Brenton Grove launched a scathing attack on Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown. The feud stems from a tyre pressure breach by Kai Allen in Perth, which has sparked a fierce debate over fairness and rules.
As reported, two tyres on the Grove Mustang were below the 16 psi minimum at the start in Perth. Despite the breach being confirmed, stewards decided not to penalize Allen due to mitigating circumstances. This decision angered Supercars itself, which unsuccessfully appealed.
Kostecki, known for his technical acumen, claimed on the Lucky Dogs podcast that the advantage Allen gained was as much as three-tenths of a second per lap. Brown, his teammate, agreed it was a "massive advantage." These comments drew Grove's ire.

"I think there were a couple of drivers that made that comment who also had a pretty horrible Perth," Grove said in Ipswich, as reported by Speedcafe. "So I'm not surprised that they did that and they've got a voice in their podcast to do so."
With a sarcastic tone, he added, "I think Will and Brodie's strong suit is not maths. To claim the advantage was as big as what it was is ridiculous. And ultimately you can go back and look at the pace of the race and Kai was fastest at the end of the race. People can say what they want, it doesn't change anything at the end of the day. We had a fast car, the other car won the race. Numbers are numbers."
Concerns have been raised that the non-penalty sets a precedent for teams to exploit lower starting pressures. However, Grove insists his team will adopt a more conservative approach. "Our job is to always be at the limit and our job is to understand the ruleset that we have. I can guarantee you we won't be going lower in tyre pressure. It's not a great situation to have been in and it's not a whole lot of fun going through it," he explained.
In response, Supercars has clarified its tyre pressure rules for this weekend, including a provision for teams to start from pit lane if a tyre dips below the minimum while on the grid. This move aims to prevent similar incidents and ensure fair competition.
