Charles Leclerc secured a major victory in the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, leading Ferrari to the top step in a race that finished behind the safety car.
Leclerc held on at the front after major drama struck two key rivals in the decisive phase. Kimi Antonelli had looked capable of chasing victory, but a Mercedes wheel shield failure destroyed the balance of his car and dropped him down the order.
A late safety car was then deployed after Max Verstappen suffered an unusual crash at Stowe while running in podium contention. With insufficient time to restart the race, the front order remained fixed through to the chequered flag.

George Russell finished second after choosing not to pit behind the safety car. That decision allowed him to preserve an important result for Mercedes, while Lewis Hamilton completed the podium in third for Ferrari.
Lando Norris finished fourth for McLaren, ahead of Isack Hadjar in fifth for Red Bull. Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad delivered a strong double result for Racing Bulls in sixth and seventh, while Gabriel Bortoleto, Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly completed the top 10.
For Leclerc, the win marked a major result after his improved qualifying performance earlier in the weekend. For Antonelli and Verstappen, Silverstone became a damaging race after both lost potential podium or victory chances through separate late-race problems.
With the race ending under safety car conditions, the 2026 British GP showed how reliability, strategic decisions and late incidents can dramatically reshape the final result. Attention now turns to the championship impact and the response from Mercedes and Red Bull after major points were lost at Silverstone.
