Go Eleven Ducati team manager Denis Sacchetti has admitted that while there are multiple rider options available for the WorldSBK squad, the primary obstacle is securing the budget to sign more than one of them. The Italian outfit has been linked with a move for Alex Rins, who will leave the factory Yamaha team at the end of the season.
The decision to bring in Lorenzo Baldassarri at the start of the year raised eyebrows, but it has proven to be a solid choice. The former Moto2 and World Supersport race winner has taken two podiums so far and currently sits seventh in the riders' standings after eight rounds.
The competitiveness of the Ducati machinery has made Go Eleven an attractive destination for other riders. Rins has said that WorldSBK is not his only option for next season, but a move to Go Eleven would either mean replacing Baldassarri or adding a second bike for the squad.
Sacchetti acknowledged that retaining Baldassarri remains a viable option, but expanding to a two-bike operation requires additional funding that is proving difficult to secure.
"It's too early to say something," Sacchetti told the WorldSBK world feed. "We are working, of course, to have two bikes next season, but it's not easy. It's really hard because the problem is the budget. We are working hard. We have to decide before the end of September, for sure. In 15 or 20 days we will have the answer that we need to understand if there is an opportunity, a real opportunity, to do the second bike or not."
Sacchetti added that keeping Baldassarri remains an option, but nothing is decided yet. "About the riders, we have some different options on the table. One, for sure, is to continue with Baldassarri, but I can't say anything at the moment because it's too early," he concluded.
