Absolute dominance has returned to the Formula 1 grid as Max Verstappen and his squad successfully orchestrated a dramatic turnaround during the final stretch of the season. An impressive tally featuring three pole positions and three race victories across the last two race weekends solidifies the Milton Keynes outfit's return to supreme form. This relentless consistency is further highlighted by eight podium finishes from the last eight Grands Prix successfully brought home by the Dutch driver.
The troubled period at the start of the campaign when complaints about machine handling dominated headlines now feels like a distant memory. This remarkable mid-season development surge heavily bears the hallmark of Laurent Mekies, who recently extended his tenure until the end of 2031. Proving their extraordinary capability to rewrite a season's script after victories in Malaysia and Singapore, the team has already laid down a fierce marker for the upcoming 2027 championship battle.
Observing this formidable surge of performance, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff offered high praise and acknowledged the exceptional job executed by his adversaries in developing their challenger throughout the year.

Furthermore, he pointed out the unique intra-team dynamic regarding how the car is tailored specifically to suit the driving style of the reigning champion, often leaving the teammate struggling to extract matching performance levels from the machinery.
Beyond chassis evolution, massive credit goes toward developing a brand-new power unit from scratch that instantly fought at the sharp end against legacy manufacturers. The early groundwork for this ambitious powertrain project was also heavily driven by Christian Horner during his foundational years leading the organization.
