Formula 1, Sportrik Media – German manufacturer Audi will be the first team to run their 2026 Formula 1 car on track. The shakedown is scheduled at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this Friday.

This aggressive move, confirmed by RacingNews365, positions Audi as the earliest to hit the circuit with the new challenger. Previously, on December 19, 2025, Audi successfully fired up their power unit for the first time at the Hinwil headquarters in Switzerland.

The shakedown utilizes one of the two permitted filming days per team per season. It is limited to 200 kilometers or approximately 42 laps, on special Pirelli demo tyres.

The exercise proves highly beneficial amid the revolutionary 2026 regulations, including a 50-50 split between combustion and electrical power, 100 percent sustainable fuel, and active aerodynamics.

“This marks a new beginning,” stated team representatives regarding the power unit fire-up.

The car will then make its official on-track debut at the first pre-season test from January 26-30, again in Barcelona. In between, Audi plans an official launch in Berlin on January 20.

In-depth analysis reveals this strategy provides Audi with early data advantage over rivals such as Ferrari and Mercedes. Transitioning from Sauber with drivers like Nico Hulkenberg, this swift approach underscores the German manufacturer's high ambitions in the new F1 era.

The 2026 prospects grow more exciting with Audi joining as the sixth works team, potentially refreshing grid competition.
